Two cops, soldier injured in Hajin shootout

Two policemen suatained bullet wounds soon after forces launched a cordon-and-search operation at Hajin area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Sunday morning.

Earlier, Army's 13 RR and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police had cordoned off Kochak Mohalla Hajin after inputs about presence of three militants in the area. He said that the injured police personnel, who were identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmad and Fayaz Ahmad, were referred to a hospital for further treatment.

Two policemen identified as Mukhtar Ahmed and Muhmmad Ashraf and army man Sepoy Raj Kumar sustained injuries in the militant firing, sources said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and search operations has been launched to eliminate hiding militants in the area. The reports, however, disclosed that the militants managed to escape from the area after 45 minutes encounter.

He said the search operation has been called off.
