Atlanta Motor Speedway to open campgrounds for Irma evacuees

In conjunction with preparations for the September 15-17 NHRA Carolina Nationals, Charlotte Motor Speedway will open its Rock City Campground beginning at 7 a.m. Friday morning for evacuees heading north or inland from Hurricane Irma. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path of the storm".

The mile-and-a-half race track, located 20 miles south of Atlanta, is well equipped to handle thousands of campers for NASCAR races.

Atlanta Motor Speedway will open its camping facilities free of charge to evacuees seeking temporary refuge from the approaching Hurricane Irma.

Atlanta Motor Speedway opened its camping facilities Thursday for both RV and tent campers, all of whom would have access to hot showers and restroom facilities.
