Union Minister for Law and Justice and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government will soon link Aadhaar cards with driving license.

Speaking at the Digital Haryana Summit 2017, Prasad said that he had a word with Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari regarding the matter. The process varies from state to state, but broadly it remains the same.

It should be noted that linking Aadhaar card to the driver's licence will enable the government to maintain a centralised database (known as Sarathi).

Now select the "Search Element" as Registration number or License. "So Digital identity confirms physical identity with the help of Digital technology", Prasad added.

You are dealing with an issue which is of seminal importance and I have myself requested that there should be widest debate among the stakeholders. "My view is that India's data protection law must become a milestone", Prasad told The Indian Express.
