Based on the request Operation Madad (Op-Madad) has been executed by the Southern Naval Command with effect from yesterday particularly since Kerala is expected to encounter wet weather for the next few days, the release said.
On Sunday heavy rains in Kerala caused widespread damage, landslip, waterlogging in many parts of the state. A biker, identified as Manu, a resident of Idukki, was killed when a tree came crashing down on his bike on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway.
A day after torrential rain wreaked havoc across the state, there was a general respite from heavy showers in Kerala on Monday.
Landslip was reported at Poonchola in Kanjirapuzha in northern Palakkad district last night.
Rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep, India Meteorological department officials here said.

Traffic snarls were reported in 20 spots on Mannarkad ghat road in the heavy rains and efforts are on to restore it, they said. Heavy rain related landslides have been reported in Attappadi, Idukki and Palakkad, the officials said. The state government has kept fire and emergency service personnel, disaster management department etc on standby in case of emergencies. According to IMD regional office here, Ernakulam south in Ernakulam district received 15 cm rain, followed by Mavelikkara in Alappuzha district 12 cm today.
The heavy rain has also come as a major relief to the state, which registered a 25 per cent fall in the rainfall during the ongoing South-West monsoon season.
According to MeT some places in the state may receive heavy rainfall between 7 cm and 11 cm in some places in the state till Monday morning.
