Lionsgate and Millennium have today summoned forth our first official look at David Harbour as Hellboy, and it's a doozy. The two actors actually look remarkably similar when in the prosthetics and red body paint - but that doesn't mean the two Hellboys are interchangeable. From its lack of Ron Perlman to its lack of diversity when casting an Asian character, the film has become a target for some onlookers and fans. The writers of the film are Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mignola. Raised by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm of Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, Hellboy went on to be billed as "The World's greatest occult detective". As he grew older, Hellboy was trained as an agent of the BPRD assisting a wide array of human and nonhuman agents in their efforts to protect the Earth from all manner of supernatural forces. Recently, Ed Skein dropped out of playing Daimio after whitewashing concerns.
Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim and Sasha Lane also star. While the film is still a ways away from hitting theaters, it already looks like it's shaping up to be a faithful adaptation of the fan-favorite comics.
