Described as an updated version of the original series, "Magnum P.I." follows Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home to Hawaii from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator.
A reboot of the 1980s Hawaii-set TV series has picked up a pilot-production commitment from the network.

The show also featured Jonathan Higgins, who was played by John Hillerman, as the caretaker of the beachfront estate where Magnum lived.
The original "Magnum P.I." aired from 1980-1988 for eight seasons and 158 episodes on CBS.
The Higgins character will apparently be retooled as Juliet Higgins, a former MI6 agent, who has been disavowed by the agency, according to the Hollywood Reporter. But it will also get further into Magnum's life back in the states as an ex-soldier, trying to make it now with a job in the private sector. Eric Guggenheim, his writing/producing partner from Hawaii Five-0, is working on the pilot with him. Some of the most recent examples include Nancy Drew for NBC, Roswell for The CW, The Munsters for NBC, and another classic cop show Starsky and Hutch for Amazon. It's a trend that doesn't look to be ending any time soon.
Although four men made up the main Magnum P.I. cast, this fresh take will consist of three men and one woman.
There's no news regarding casting as of yet on the Magnum P.I. reboot, and given the popularity of the previous owner of the title, it needs to be somebody that can rock a mustache easily.
