One of those people is Ben Affleck, who worked with Weinstein on Good Will Hunting.

Last week, The New York Times revealed that powerful producer Harvey Weinstein had been paying off sexual harassment accusers for decades.

Twitter's explanation behind the decision to lock McGowan's account was because she had "violated" their rules, but it's still not clear exactly which tweets resulted in the suspension.

The Weinstein Company - which fired Harvey Weinstein last weekend - does have two upcoming Amazon shows and the streaming studio is "reviewing [its] options" on the projects.

Twitter says that Rose McGowan's account was suspended because of a tweet that included a phone number and has announced that the actress's account is now unlocked.

Samsung predicts record profits for third quarter as memory business booms
Son of hospitalized chairman Lee Kun-hee, the 49-year-old businessman denies the charges and is appealing the conviction. Shares of Samsung Electronics traded at 2,722,000 won as of 9:30 a.m., down 0.66 percent from the previous session.

McGowan has since criticised other major Hollywood figures for failing to confront Weinstein, at one point tweeting: "You all knew". As more and more women come forward to accuse the film mogul of inappropriate behavior, she has been a leading critic of Weinstein, his company and many of his former supporters. McGowan declined to comment for that story and she did not immediately respond to the Guardian's request for comment on Thursday.

While McGowan hasn't spoken out directly about the alleged abuse she received, she has been very vocal on the social networking site, claiming she was targeted by a "monster". "Asking for multiple victims of sexual violence", fellow actress Jessica Chastain wrote.

After hours of silence, Twitter has finally issued a response. "We stand with the fearless women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices", Twitter tweeted. If you try to view a suspended profile, you'll see a notice explaining that the account has been suspended. I expect to start seeing smear stories on her anytime now.

Needless to say, Twitter's #ROSEARMY is not pleased with this recent development.

"Your account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of the Twitter Rules, specifically our rules prohibiting participating in or inciting abuse of individuals".
