Children shot at Northern California elementary school

Sheriff's officials say the students are now at a safe location.

Law enforcement officials have killed the alleged shooter. Police said there were "at least five" shooting scenes.

"It's a very sad day for us in Tehama County", said the deputy, who was visibly shaken by events.

The shooting started shortly after 8 a.m., the Redding Record Searchlight reports, and at least two children suffered gunshot wounds and were hospitalized.

There were several shots fired at Rancho Tehama Elementary School, police reported. Local law enforcement have blocked off the road that leads to the school.

Ann Bates, administrative assistant to the superintendent of Corning Union Elementary School District, confirmed injuries at the school, but said there were no deaths at this time.
