Bellator MMA continues to sign well-known free agent athletes to its roster, but their most recent signing may come as a surprise to MMA fans around the world. He finished seventh overall in the heavyweight division in 2006 during his senior year with the school.
Former WWE superstar Jack Swagger - his real name is Jake Hager - will be transitioning into mixed martial arts after inking a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA. He also won't be the only competitor signed to Bellator now working wrestling's independent circuit as former WWE star Bobby Lashley has been doing that for a number of years.
Before starting with WWE in 2006, Swagger was a standout amateur wrestler at the University of Oklahoma.
The wrestler says he's been MMA/boxing training for eight months and is under contract for six fights.
New guidelines will mean millions more diagnosed with high blood pressure
Physicians ought to be calculating risk as they think about how to treat.. Consumers should be getting an explanation. The new guidelines "take advantage of evidence nearly up to the minute, so they are very current", Whelton said.
He is expected to make his MMA debut in 2018.
He made his WWE developmental debut right out of college for Deep South Wrestling, but once on the main roster in 2008, he excelled and captured numerous company's titles, including the WWE championship, United States Championship and ECW Championship.
Hager also briefly played football at Oklahoma before dedicating himself to wrestling full time.
"It's still a little bit shocking", Hager said. Swagger has been working on the independent scene since departing WWE earlier this year. "Very excited about it. It makes sense, right?"
