The appeal came from a former PDP National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Chief Ishola Filani, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the party for the coming governorship election in Ekiti state, Amb Dare Bejide and a factional National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe.
"All other aspirants, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Ambassador Dare Bejide, Bisi Omoyeni and myself are all working together to ensure that there is no imposition of any candidate in PDP in this state".
Filani explained that the party's chairmanship position had been zoned to the Southwest during the May 2016 National Convention, wondering why some interest groups are working against the agreement to support an aspirant from the South-south.
"With that accord being signed we are going to look forward to a very peaceful and harmonious convention".
He said that the candidates had agreed to work together "After the zoning principle, all the aspirants have agreed to work together to come up with a common position". Dokpesi disclosed that all the aspirants had agreed to sign the peace accord at the party's national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, by 4 pm.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, which also had in attendance notable party leaders and seven out of the eight chairmanship aspirants, Fayose said the atmosphere and team spirit that manifested in the meeting demonstrated the party's resolve to take over power by 2019.
Standard & Poor's declares Venezuela in partial default
Venezuela's state-run oil company PDVSA has also been declared in default by rating agencies Fitch and Moody's. The agency said it acted after a 30-day grace period had passed on payments on two bonds.
Filani, who commissioned the campaign office, argued that "PDP national chairmanship had not been occupied by the Southwest while every other geopolitical zone had occupied it".
"He has disorganised the South-West PDP for selfish manipulations with his cohorts, chief among who is the uncultured and erratic Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose".
"We are using this opportunity to ask that the election must be credible, not only credible but seen to be credible".
"As if the disorganisation of the south-west structures is not enough; Makarfi has clandestinely abdicated the leadership role of ensuring an acceptable micro-zoning, he left the national chairmanship hitherto conceded to the south-west for a free-for-all among the three southern zones".
"As a democrat to the core, Secondus emphasizes liberal disposition and says to whoever cares to listen, putting it clearly on records, that since the launching of his chairmanship ambition, he has been reaching out to delegates across the 36 states, seeking votes and presenting his agenda for revival of the party ahead of 2019".
