A 25-year-old woman in upstate NY has been charged with second-degree murder for the bathtub drowning of her 10-day-old son, police say.

WHEC reported that another adult inside the home found the baby unresponsive in the bathtub and called 911.

The baby boy was taken to Rochester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The outlet cited court documents which told of Mitchell placing her 10-day-old son in 8 to 10 inches of water in a bathtub inside her apartment at 31 Locust St.

The mother, Markiya Mitchell, was taken from the scene and, after being interviewed, admitted to drowning the baby in the bathtub on objective to kill him.
