Two militants killed in Handwara encounter

"In the exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed".

A police official said entry and exist points at both the places were sealed and security personnel conducted house to house searches to nab the militants hiding there. Handwara sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Shabir Khan said the militants fired on a joint party of police and the Army, triggering the shootout.

The identities and group affiliations of the slain militants were being ascertained.

On November 9 militants shot at and injured a policeman in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The troops killed the youth during a siege and search operation in Rajwar area of the district.The martyred youth were identified as Ashiq Ahmad Butt of Palhalan Pattan and Toib Majeed Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore.

Handwara: One person died while two others sustained injuries when a speedy four wheeler met with an accident at Zachaldara Rajwara area of Handwara. "The militants in north are mostly foreigners", he told DH.
