Walmart to offer Black Friday deals early on its website

Online retailer NewEgg previewed several Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on popular tech products, joining fellow retailers like Amazon and Walmart in offering discounts around the busy Thanksgiving shopping period.

Despite the forecast by the National Retail Federation of a holiday season that will be highly competitive and strong, it is obvious that the competition this season is on a record high.

"Walmart has them in the rearview mirror right now", Sucharita Mulpuru, an analyst at Forrester Research, said. The company plans more than 5,000 deals between November 20 and 30, making this Newegg's biggest Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale in the company's history. More than half of shoppers who abandon their online shopping carts do so because the delivery options were too expensive, according to a survey conducted a year ago by Research Now on behalf of e-commerce software provider MetaPack.

Store employees will hand out color-coded maps to help keep shoppers from getting too frazzled while searching for deals. The industry association projects that total holiday retail sales will rise as much as 4 percent this year to about $680 billion.

Target also plans to offer Black Friday deals online starting Thanksgiving morning, but its stores won't open until 6 p.m. Thousands of deep discounts will be unlocked at 1 p.m. Of the deals that are expected to be open to the public from the 23rd of November is Walmart's; however, it is on Turkey Day only that it is set to be made available in stores.
