Wike accuses FG of plotting chaos in Rivers State

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered a probe into Saturday's bloody clash between the security details of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and those of Minister of Transportation, Chibuile Amaechi, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to the account by the Spokesman to the governor, Simeon Nwakaudu, the governor was on project inspection in the state, when SARs personnel and soldiers in the minister's convoy hit the governor's escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot auto.

Also, the APC RIvers State chapter in a statement by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, SSA Media and Public Affairs Consultant to the APC Rivers State Chairman, Dr Ibiamu Davies Ikanya further alleged that after the failed attempt to kill the Minister, his escort Team was physically assaulted by the CSO Government House, SP Promise Wosu and Governor Wike along Trans Amadi road, Port Harcourt with the FSARS operatives on the Minister's convoy dislodged and forcefully disposed of one of their AK 47 Rifles.

The statement said: "These constant harassments and attempt on the Life of Governor Wike are an open invitation to anarchy and another plan of the APC to ignite crisis against Rivers State". Mr Debewari, Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the minister of transportation, supervised the attack, which included damage of cameras held by journalists.

Accompanied by cars of many of his supporters, the Minister's black jeep was intercepted and blocked at the junction by the security Motorcycle Outrider attached to Wike after two cars had passed through.

The SARs personnel and soldiers in the minister's convoy hit down the governor's escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot vehicle.

It reiterated that Wike's main desire was to truncate Nigeria's hard-earned democracy, after the failed plot by the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the 2015 presidential election, stressing that the Rivers governor's disdain for President Muhammadu Buhari, APC and Amaechi was legendary.

The 25-year-old did play his part in securing the draw when he cleared Leroy Sane's effort off the line early on. But he was unable to continue and was replaced by Liverpool's Joe Gomez, who came on for his debut.

Rivers APC also stated that the unsafe trend, if not nipped in the bud, might jeopardise the peace pervading the Niger Delta.

"Again, we condemn this attack in very strong terms and call on President Buhari to order the immediate transfer of Mr. Fakorede of SARS out of Rivers State". One of the two cars had security men assigned to protect the minister in Port Harcourt.

However, Amaechi has denied the allegation, saying the governor was engaging in a power show that led to his narrow escape after being shot by his security men.

An associate of Amaechi, Prince Tonye Princewill, who was with the minister in his bullet-proof vehicle, claimed it was an attack aimed at assassinating the minister. They hit the vehicle, tried to smash the windscreens, windows and broke a side mirror. While the attacked occurred, Wike remained inside his vehicle. These constant harrasement and attempt on the Life of Governor Wike is an open invitation to anarchy and another plan of the APC to ignite crisis against Rivers State.

"We are also calling on the International Community to take note of these chain of activity that is carefully planned by the (APC) and being executed by the Minister of Transport".

"Also part of the attack, was the Commander of Rivers SARS, Mr Akin Fakorede who received the Minister of Transportation at the Port Harcourt L Airport and accompanied on his trip".
