Army unveils epic uniforms ahead of game vs. Navy

The panda bear on Nike's cleats represent the mascot of their training ground in Colorado's Camp Hale.

"We honor the past by re-telling the story of the 'Climb to Glory, '" the official site said. However, they feature many nods to the division and the Army's history.

The font for the jerseys is modeled after the stencil used for bumper numbers on the division's M29C vehicles. Nike co-founder, Bill Bowerman has connections to the Mountain Division as he was awarded a silver star as a member of the 86 infantry unit.

The back of the helmet features a vertical bar, referred to as "follow me bars".

The division was created during World War II.

Army-Navy kicks off this Saturday, and we finally know which uniforms the Black Knights will be wearing.

Navy will wear special uniforms for the game dedicated to the Blue Angels flying team, featuring hand-painted helmets depicting a Delta Formation and a chrome facemask to mimic the visor of the Blue Angel pilots. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

It would be hard to top this look for any team, but in a rivalry built on one-upsmanship as much as midshipmen, Army wasn't about to be bested that easily. Army won its first game in the rivalry since 2001 last season, but Navy still holds a 60-50-7 advantage since the first game was played in 1890.
