Cold front bringing the coldest air of the season... so far

Cold with chances for snow

Overnight lows range through the 20s, with even a few upper teens if winds drop off fast enough. The forecast says highs Thursday and Saturday should stay in the 30s. Rainfall totals going back to Tuesday night were not that impressive with pretty much everyone picking up less than a half of an inch.

Regarding chances for snow: Saturday, a coastal storm could brush us or entirely miss us, there is still a lot of uncertainty as to what will happen.

"At Windsor Locks, with 8.77" of rain (4.40" surplus for the month), the 31 days go down as the 5 wettest October since records have been kept. Highs are mainly in the mid-40s but, with breezes picking up from the west, should feel even colder.

Snow chances are greater now for Saturday. That's when temperatures struggle to get out of the 30s and winds intensify the chill factor.

Kenya opposition leader hits out at U.S. 'audacity' over mock inauguration event
Raila Odinga alleged Thursday that dozens of Kenyans have been killed by the security forces and "nobody is talking about it". But the Supreme Court nullified the result, and a repeat election was held on October 26.

The cold pattern will relax a bit Sunday into Monday as winds become more westerly. Highs are in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees Saturday, after a cold morning in the 20s. The sky will be partly sunny as a southwesterly breeze develops during the afternoon. Overnight lows in the week ahead will mainly be in the 30s.

Looking likely that most of the Arklatex could stay totally dry during the next seven days. High temperatures will warm gradually into the weekend.

1/10 (→): A very light snow band remains just a remote possibility near and east of city Friday night as moisture is in short supply. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies, brisk breezes, and colder temperatures to be the rule through the rest of the weekend. Temperatures falling throughout the rest of the morning with some bottoming out in the upper 30s before we rebound by a couple degrees this afternoon. Again the seven day forecast offers no promise of rain. WE can see some minor accumulations from United States 24 northward, and even a coating with some snow showers down toward I-70. Regardless, the cold pattern keeps chugging right along through next week.
