Variety is reporting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to receive a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk Of Fame next week. The official announcement said the wrestler-turned-actor will be honored for his box-office contributions as well as his philanthropic work.
"We envision scores of photos being taken at his star by his fans", said Ana Martinez, producer of Walk of Fame ceremonies.
Johnson is gearing up for the premiere of his new film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on December 20.
Ryan Reynolds will star in new Pokémon movie as Detective Pikachu
The new film will be based on the already-successful franchise, introduced with video games in Japan in 1996. Before he goes yellow, Reynolds will return as his foul-mouthed mercenary in next year's Deadpool 2 .
Johnson was last seen in The Fate of the Furious and you can catch him in cinemas later this month in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Adding to a slew of tent-pole films, Johnson starred in the highest grossing live action comedy, "Central Intelligence" opposite Kevin Hart for New Line Cinema and also lent his voice to the widely successful Disney Animated film "Moana" released in November 2016. Some of his other major movie roles include appearances in The Fast and Furious movie series, G.I. He got his breakthrough in the 2002 film - The Scorpion King - which made $165.3 million at the box office.
Besides the flicks, the Rock also stars in HBO's Ballers, which is produced by his own Seven Bucks Productions. In 2011, he returned to wrestling again, fighting five times over the course of two years. It's safe to say that Hollywood really knows what The Rock is cooking.
