Fitbit Ionic's app store is open for business

Fitbit Updates Ionic Smartwatch With More Apps

It released the gadget in October with only a few apps to its name - then proceeded to leave the brand new OS alone for nearly two months without a software update. A variety of different apps are included here, such as The New York Times, Uber, and Yelp. It's a bummer, of course, that the product didn't launch with this full an app selection, but if nothing else, it shows that Fitbit's committed to building the thing up as quickly as possible.

Fitbit has also designed three new watchfaces for the Ionic that are bundled with the new update: levels, threads, and mountainscape.

Fitbit is releasing the first major update to the Fitbit OS software on its flagship Ionic smartwatch today, bringing a host of new apps and watchfaces to the fledging smartwatch platform.

More apps and clock faces are on the way, too.

Gold eases as dollar gains after US Senate clears tax bill
Some market participants were also skeptical about how significant the impact of the tax bill would be on USA growth. The US dollar was 0.4 per cent higher at 112.770 yen after rising to 112.985, its highest since Nov 17.

The software update also brings nearly 30 free apps and more than 80 watch faces to the App Gallery from smaller developers, which will finally give Ionic owners something to do on their wrists.

Fitbit is also introducing Fitbit Labs, which is a way for the company's Research & Development team to test potential new features in the form of experimental apps and clock faces.

Partnership with Deezer, a personal streaming music service, to give Ionic users around the globe instant access to their favorite tunes right from their wrist (available in 2018). One new watch app on the way from Fitbit Labs will track tennis swings and offer a shot breakdown to help users improve their game, for example. The list of participating Fitbit Pay banks has expanded to 25 banks in 13 markets. Throughout my time with the Fitbit Ionic, I've found Fitbit OS to be too laggy, nearly to the point where I don't want to wear the watch at all.

For me, the most exciting improvement in this update is faster touch interactions in Fitbit OS. And after using this new software update on my Ionic for a few minutes, I'm happy to report that numerous lag issues are gone.
