The dad of four will be spending time with his youngest son, William John "Billy" Kimmel after he underwent a second open heart surgery.
It was done to correct a serious condition called tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, a set of congenital heart defects Billy was born with.
Although the second procedure was scheduled to occur in October when Billy reached 6 months old, the operation was postponed as a precaution when he caught a cold.
On Monday, a press release from ABC revealed that Billy had just had another "scheduled and successful heart surgery". Guardians of the Galaxy's Christ Pratt took over the first night, with guests Margot Robbie and Chris Stapleton.

"ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' welcomes guest hosts this week", the network said in a statement on Monday. "With zero rehearsal, Pratt let the big, dumb wheel spin and it, of course, it landed on the incomparable Dirty Dancing classic "(I've Had) The Time of My Life". The Suicide Squad star also shared that she worked at a local bar at the age of 14.
On Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross.
