Sony had an impressive 2017, so it should come as surprise to no one that the sales of the PlayStation 4 itself were equally impressive this year, with sales topping 70 million worldwide - an achievement that comes just four years after the console went on sale in November 2013.
As for PlayStation VR, the company's virtual reality headset, it has reached the milestone of two million sales for 12.2 million accounting games (no clarification if it is exclusive PSVR titles or just "compatible"). "Our business model involves selling both the game console and the software for it, so we're working to get more customers paying continuously for content, for example through paid subscription services". That 120 percent lead sounds impressive, until you consider that it took the PlayStation 4 433 percent more time on the market than Switch to build it. The nine-month timespan is actually quite precise since the latest Media Create release is related to the week ending on December 3rd, with a total bounty for Nintendo's new console of 2.522.298 units. Last year Sony augmented its hardware lineup with the PS4 Slim, PSVR, and PS4 Pro, the latter of which allows for 4K gaming.
Boko Haram war: Army removes commander
The former occupant of that position was Lucky Irabor who was redeployed to coordinate the Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF. The Nigerian Army has killed three Boko Haram insurgents in Sabsawa axis of Sambisa forest area of Operation.
The company also announced this morning that it has sold more than 617.8 million copies of PS4 games at retail and digitally, worldwide as of December 3rd.
The PlayStation 4 continues to dominate its rival, Microsoft's Xbox One console. The device is expected to outsell the lifetime sales of its predecessor, the Wii U in its first year. Even if it eventually does, it's not inconceivable that Sony will have already turned its attention to the inevitable PlayStation 5 at that point.
