Secondus floors Adeniran, Dokpesi overwhelmingly to emerge PDP chairman

The list has Uche Secondus, a former chairman of the party as the new chairman.

Similarly, Umar Ibrahim has emerged victor of the National Secretary of the party with 1549 votes to defeat Abubakar Mustapha who polled 371 votes and Nenadi Usman who got 287 votes.

A former acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Uche Secondus, has emerged as the party's National Chairman, ending its long and troubled quest to elect leaders after it suffered defeat in the 2015 Presidential election.

Secondus also praised Adeniran and Dokpesi who contested against him for the national chairmanship seat, describing them as eminently qualified to lead the party for the role and thanking them for a "worthy contest".

He said: "We reject the entire electoral process of December 9, 2017".

Some of the contestants are not happy with the results and insist that a so-called "unity list" was in circulation asking delegates to vote for those whose names were in them. The election has been grossly compromised to achieve a predetermined end.

Mummy Found in Unexplored Egyptian Tomb
Antiquities Minister Khaled al Enany said the discovery in Luxor, one of Egypt's key tourist destinations, was highly significant. The tombs, which are located just across the Nile from Luxor, were found by German archaeologist Frederica Kampp in the 1990s.

Similarly, Adeniran called for the cancellation of the entire exercise, saying Governors Nyesom Wike foisted the Unity List on delegates.

Secondus was listed as the "favoured candidate" for the chairmanship position in the 'unity list'. "The illegal Unity List is prepared by Governors Wike and Ayodele Fayose to foist on the entire delegates" Mr. Taiwo Akeju, Director, Media and Publicity of the Adeniran Campaign said last night.

All those who were on the list eventually won.

The party's delegates also elected Senator Umar Tsauri as national secretary of the party.

His name was not on the list.

Dokpesi who said it was unfortunate that a party which was just getting out of a major leadership crisis would be involved in acts of impunity and election malpractice noted that the issue may became another major challenge in the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
