The attendees of the event included Karisma Kapoor, Ranshir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Padmini Kolhapure, Dimple Kapadia, Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan, Kabir Bedi, Waheeda Rehman, Rani Mukherji, Poonam Dhillon, Aadar Jain, Kiran Rao, Suniel Shetty, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Rekha, Neelam and other members of the Kapoor family.
At the meet inside the theatre, they had a picture of Shashi around which people lit candles and behind the photo was a montage on screen playing his popular scenes.
Shashi passed away due to prolonged age-related illnesses earlier this week.

While brother Raj Kapoor died in June 1988, Shammi Kapoor breathed his last in August 2011. Raj Kapoor had even expressed desire to visit his childhood home before his death.
Besides the Kapoor family, actors Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Vinod Khanna, Amjad Khan and Anil Kapoor have roots in Peshawar. The Mumbai police gave three-gun salute to the star to remember his tremendous contribution to cinema.
