Francis Ngannou will not have to wait long for his chance to fight heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic as the title fight has just been booked for UFC 220 on January 20th in Boston. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the UFC had yet to make its plans public.

Miocic will attempt to break the all time record for title defenses in UFC heavyweight history with his third consecutive victory since winning the belt after defeating Alistair Overeem in 2016 and Junior dos Santos earlier this year.

"He has punching power", Cooper told MMA Junkie. All three victories have come by way of stoppage - two as knockouts and the Dos Santos win via TKO.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was there in Detroit for UFC 218 and saw Ngannou's ferocious KO cageside and spoke with Bellator heavyweight Justin Wren about the potential of the native of Cameroon on Rogan's JRE MMA Show podcast.

The Ford Trophy encounter between Canterbury and Auckland is turning out to be a forgetful affair for Stokes, who was punished by Munro.

A victor of five consecutive fights, including two title defenses, Miocic has run through numerous top contenders at heavyweight, but now he'll be facing one of the best prospects to join the roster in several years.

Over the weekend at UFC 218, rising heavyweight star Francis Ngannou put together a highlight reel knockout over the always unsafe Alistair Overeem.

On a card that already boasted one title fight in Daniel Cormier defending his light heavyweight strap against Volkan Oezdemir, Dana White is treating the Boston faithful to a second title fight, creating an event that should kick off 2018 in the right direction.

It's unclear which of the two title fights would serve as the UFC 220 main event.
