The company has officially let out that the new Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be revealed in China on December 7. The new Samsung W2018 comes in two storage options, 64GB and 256GB, both with a dedicated microSD card slot with support up to 256GB.
Donovan Sung, director of product management at Xiaomi has just revealed the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in a set of tweeted photos. The Redmi 5 will arrive with RAM options of 2GB, 3GB and 4GB that will respectively come with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options. Well, it still comes from Xiaomi, but that new 18:9 display will surely add a modern touch to the entry-budget segment offering from the brand, making for an attractive package.
While the next-gen Redmi smartphone is expected to come with a new design language and updated hardware, reports suggests the cameras will not see a major bump. From the rear, the design of these devices is similar to the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 smartphones. Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus offers a 13 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera with 1080p video recording capability. Both the phones shall feature an almost bezel-less design with has been trending this year plus they will look almost identical except for the display size. The upcoming Redmi phones will be the first budget devices from the company to offer all-screen displays with minimal bezels and an 18:9 ratio.

The camera on the back will still be a 12MP unit while the front also gest the same 5MP lens as the standard model. The Redmi 5 will house 3,200 mAh battery and sport a slim profile of 7.7mm.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus shall have a narrow bezel as compared to its smaller version as suggested in the promo videos. The device will be running on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. Both these devices will come with on-screen navigation buttons.
