Amazon is working to bring its Alexa digital assistant out of the home and into the wild by way of a partnership with Toyota that will see the smart home gadget incorporated under the bonnet of future vehicles.

More excitement came from the CES 2018, as Amazon announced that the technology behind its AI-based home speaker Alexa can now be extended to cars.

"Voice services are rapidly becoming more popular and through our integration with Amazon Alexa, Toyota and Lexus customers will soon be able to easily speak to Alexa in their cars while on-the-go", Toyota chief information officer Zack Hicks said in a statement.

And with the recent reveal of the Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit, Amazon is clearly aiming to get Alexa into more wearable and portable devices beyond smartphones. As an example, drivers could tell Alexa to turn on the living room lights while the owner is pulling into the garage.

As per the reports, users will use Alexa to manage their calendar, create lists and answer questions by passing simple voice commands.

Several automakers, notably including Ford, are taking advantage of Alexa's ability to conduct e-commerce.
