The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons, 15-10, in an NFC Divisional Playoff game on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Lincoln Financial Field. Two more yards on the touchdown attempt from Ryan to Jones would have earned them a victory, but Jones appeared to slip, and the play just didn't work.
Mills got his hand on the ball and it fell incomplete. It won't be an easy game, but I expect the Eagles to come out on top 24-20 and face the victor of the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings on January 21st.
The Falcons (11-6) are the first sixth-seeded team to be favoured over a top seed since the National Football League expanded the playoffs to 12 sides in 1990. Ajayi didn't need much time to show his impact on the Eagles offense, taking his fifth carry with the Eagles 46 yards for a touchdown against the Denver Broncos. Because they lost superstar quarterback Carson Wentz to a season-ending ACL injury in Week 14 at the L.A. Rams, and backup Nick Foles didn't look sharp in the final two regular-season games. Things could be different against a streaking Falcons defense, and a run-stopping unit that hasn't allowed a team to eclipse 100 yards rushing since Week 13 (Minnesota).
The bigger concern, though, is the outside with receivers Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. I'm expecting a low-scoring game, so I'll grab the points and take my chances. Now, can they hit their stride at the right time?
They did that in the first half, too, nearly in spite of themselves.
But the Eagles had trouble holding onto the ball for the entire half.
Iran threatens to seriously respond to USA sanctions against judiciary head
The other parties to the agreement would have been unlikely to join the United States in reimposing sanctions. But Trump's refusal to certify the deal to Congress did not pull the USA out of the deal itself.
Foles and Ajayi continued to move the Eagles downfield in the second half. Keeping him out of the end zone is more important.
When that happens, the first guy they're likely to see is linebacker Nigel Bradham, who led the Eagles with 88 tackles this year.
That score came after the Eagles took a 12-10 lead on a 37-yard third quarter field goal by Elliott. Quarterback Blake Bortles had more rushing yards than passing yards against the Bills, and the Jaguars again will rely on their running game and defense in wintry weather at Heinz Field.
The Eagles kicked a 53-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter to cut the Falcons lead to a single point at 10-9.
"They look sharp and they're playing at a high level", defensive end Chris Long said. Jeffery then caught his first pass with 1 second left in the first half. Third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld received the bulk of the snaps going 19 of 23 for 134 yards. Ajayi had 49 rush yards on seven first-quarter carries, but the Eagles' run game stalled after that, netting 47 yards the remainder of the game.
Those trying to find optimism in the upcoming Eagles playoff picture point to the remarkable 27 and two season. And, lest I forget, Old Man Winter is preparing a nice welcome to the southern birds, and weather is an issue for a dome team like the Atlanta Falcons.
