This week, Samsung's yet again been found guilty by Chinese courts, which claim that the South Korea-based phone maker infringed on other Huawei-owned patents.

Huwaei highly publicized their expansion to the United States markets via promotions on their U.S. Facebook Page and their tweets. Even the company acknowledges its relative obscurity with the USA marketing tagline: "The best phone you've never heard of".

AT&T was pressured to drop the deal after members of the U.S. Senate and House intelligence committees sent a letter on December 20 to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) citing concerns about Huawei's plans to launch consumer products through a major U.S. telecom carrier.

The Microsoft Store and other United States retailers will also offer the more expensive Porsche Design HUAWEI Mate 10 next month. But it compounds the notion that Huawei is bad news for the United States, which will be particularly disappointing to its mobile division lead Richard Yu, who spoke on stage about the company's commitment to security at CES only a few days ago. He pointed to the 153 million smartphones Huawei shipped in 2017, saying the company has already earned consumers' trust around the world. The U.S. Commerce Department is also looking into Huawei's business dealings in Syria, Cuba, Iran and Sudan.

The document said that later information obtained by the panels "only reinforces our concerns regarding Huawei and Chinese espionage".

Government influence might have been behind the decision as USA officials have been anxious about Chinese espionage via Huawei's, and other Chinese manufacturer's, handsets.

Huawei has been flagged by lawmakers before. ZTE was fined over $1 billion past year after admitting to violating USA sanctions by shipping equipment to Iran and North Korea. Huawei said it complies with the law.
