Katie Couric Finally Speaks out About Matt Lauer's Firing from 'Today'

Last month, Katie Couric said she wasn't ready to talk about the numerous sexual harassment allegations against Matt Lauer, only offering an Instagram comment, of all things, to say she was "incredibly" upset at what transpired at Today. "The late-night show joke which Couric describes is whether she explained View Everything occurs Live with Andy Cohen in 2012 that Lauer could "pinches me to the buttocks a lot". "The accounts I have read and heard are upsetting, debilitating and disorienting plus it's really completely improper that any female in the Now show experienced this sort of treatment method". Though Couric was a longtime co-host of Lauer's, she claims to have had no idea of his wrongdoings.

Couric told People magazine in a story published Saturday she had "no idea this was going on" while she was working with him and even after she left in 2006 to anchor "CBS Evening News". I think I speak for many of my former colleagues when I say this was not the Matt we knew. Couric said that she and Lauer had a "brother-sister" relationship and that he treated her with respect. She added that "It's still very upsetting", and that she "really admire [s] the way Savannah [Guthrie] and Hoda [Kotb] and the entire Today show staff have handled a very hard situation".

NBC issued a statement at the end of November announcing Lauer's termination from the network, referring to a "detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior". She said she passed out during the incident, but didn't report it for fear of losing her job.

Twins, reliever Reed agree to 2-year deal
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Twins have come to an agreement on a two-year contract with Addison Reed . The AL average past year was 1.31, but not surprisingly, relievers were quite a bit lower (1.17) than starters (1.4).

After the news broke, several anonymous women, who were former of current NBC employees, revealed Lauer, 60, allegedly harassed or assaulted them sexually. "Thanks for your interest".

He later added, "There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions". Because I am writing this, I still know the thickness of the disappointment and damage I have gone behind at home and in NBC.
