Diet Coke gets biggest makeover ever in bid to restore cachet

One celebrity endorsing the new Diet Coke is Indian-American actor Karan Soni (see below), who's known for his roles as Dopinder in Deadpool, Nate in Office Christmas Party, and Raviv in Rough Night. The new varieties will sell in eight-packs and as on-the-go singles.

Coca-Cola Co. said Wednesday that it's making its 12-ounce Diet Coke can taller and slimmer, updating the logo and offering the 35-year-old drink in four new flavors: mango, cherry, ginger lime and blood orange. The company spent two years on the makeover and tested more than 30 flavors before settling on the four.

The company has unveiled a new design for the low-sugar drinks brand in the U.S. market, and introduced four new flavours.

The company spoke to more than 10,000 people from across the country to get their ideas and inputs on potential flavor extensions, packaging updates and more.

The redesigned cans will retain the brand's silver and red colouring, with different coloured accents for each of the new flavours. They also still have their original Diet Coke flavor, but in a new can.

"While the low- and no-calorie beverage category has been under pressure, its performance has been improving recently, and Diet Coke remains an incredibly strong brand", said Acevedo.
