The Patriots and Titans kick off Saturday night at 8:15 p.m.at Gillette Stadium.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, neither Rex Burkhead nor Mike Gillislee is expected to play. He is dealing with a knee injury that he initially suffered on December 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been out of the lineup since then. Although both backs practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday, they will not face the Titans.
It looks like Burkhead will have to wait a little longer, and if New England can't take care of business on Saturday evening, he'll have to wait a whole lot longer than that for his return. An ankle injury sidelined him the past two games.
Australian Open draw: Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams face tough roads
Williams is obviously the biggest name there, and is not yet ready for Grand Slam competition following the birth of her child. However, doubts remain over his fitness and whether he has the longevity to win seven five set matches in two weeks.
Other New England players inactive for the matchup are defensive lineman Alan Branch (knee), receiver Kenny Britt, offensive lineman Cole Croston, linebacker David Harris and cornerback Johnson Bademosi. Dealing with a shoulder issue, Hogan missed seven of the final eight games of the season.
In the wake of all the recent injuries, Dion Lewis has stepped up as the workhorse of the Patriots backfield.
In 10 games, Burkhead's averaged 11.5 FanDuel points on 9.4 touches per game this season.
