Starz working on a series set in the 'John Wick' universe

Starz and Lionsgate Confirm John Wick TV Series The Continental

'John Wick' TV Series 'The Continental' Coming to Starz

Continuing the cross-pollinating nature of film and TV, Starz announced Friday it is developing "The Continental", a drama series spun out of the action-movie franchise "John Wick".

The Continental, which will focus on "the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins," is now in development at Starz.

John Wick is the latest feature film to get the small-screen treatment. Having a show set entirely around the hotel that houses many of these assassins seems like a great idea to explore this setting even further as this franchise expands over time.

The Continental will be set in the John Wick universe, focusing on the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins.

John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2 are available on home video. USA network Starz made the announcement at the Television Critics' Association's winter press tour, adding that it and Lionsgate were working on a series called The Continental, based on the inner workings of the global hotel chain that caters to assassins.

"This series is truly unlike anything else on TV", said Albrecht.

The team behind The Continental will include other veterans from the John Wick franchise including screenwriter Derek Kolstad and star Keanu Reeves, who will serve as an executive producer.

Although it's not clear how much Wick will factor into the show, Starz head of programming Carmi Zlotnik said, "you can expect to see him at some point of the series".
