Australian track star Sally Pearson has been nominated for a prestigious Laureus World Sport Award following her emotional gold medal win at the world championships past year.

The shortlists were decided by votes from worldwide journalists and the Laureus academy of famous sportsmen and sportswomen will pick the winners for most of the awards, which include team of the year, action sportsperson of the year and disabled sportsperson of the year.

The France Davis Cup team, Golden State Warriors, New England Patriots, Mercedes and New Zealand's America's Cup winners are the other contenders for the Team of the Year award.

"Emirates Team New Zealand are truly honoured to be nominated for this prestigious award alongside some other remarkable teams", Dalton said".

The New Zealand crew, skippered by Australian Glen Ashby, won sailing's greatest prize with a 7-1 victory over defending champions Oracle Team USA in Bermuda in June.

Brazilian football team Chapecoense are shortlisted for comeback of the year and best sporting moment after their return to competition following a plane crash that 19 players, but there will be eyebrows raised at American sprinter Justin Gatlin's presence on the comeback list after his two bans for doping.
