Grand Alliance, NDA poised for retaining their seats in Bihar by-polls

Of the three bypolls two to Bihar Assembly and one to Lok Sabha in Bihar, it is at Jehanabad Assembly seat that the friends have turned political foes between the Assembly election and bypolls. After the by-election for three seats in Bihar, the preparations to elect candidates for the vacant seat has been completed in Araria. The former ally of current ruling party JD (U) is leading by 23,187 with 3,33,050 votes with BJP trailing behind mananging 3,09,863 votes.

RJD is leading in Jehanabad after 10th round of counting with 29,551 votes.

In Bihar's Araria, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress are pitted against the BJP-Janata Dal (United) alliance and it's the first big test for Nitish Kumar after he walked out of the Grand Alliance previous year to team up with the BJP.

The results are expected to be declared by afternoon. Sarfaraz Alam has so far polled a total of 195,527 votes as against his BJP rival who has bagged 195,072 votes. The BJP is hopeful of retaining the Bhabua Assembly seat riding on a sympathy wave for Anand Bhushan Pandey, whose death at the age of 48, necessitated the bypoll.

Fifty-seven percent votes were recorded in Araria while the voter turnout was 54.03 percent and 50.06 percent in Jehanabad and Bhabhua respectively.

Doctors gave him just two years to live, but he defied them and went on to be one of the greatest minds we have ever known. While studying at Oxford, the young Stephen became increasingly clumsy, falling down the stairs and having trouble rowing.

RJD extends lead in Araria Lok Sabha seat.

RJDs Krishna Mohan is in direct fight with JD (U) candidate Abhiram Singh, who had won the seat in 2010 when his party was in alliance with the BJP.

Along with the by-elections in Bihar, elections were also held in Gorakhpur and Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Similarly in Bihar, the bypolls is a test for former deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav to lead the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) against Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar-led alliance, in the absence of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who is now in jail in the fodder scam case.

In a stunning development, the Samajwadi Party (SP) takes a lead of around 11000 votes in UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's bastion, Gorakhpur constituency as counting is in the final stage.
