Of the three bypolls two to Bihar Assembly and one to Lok Sabha in Bihar, it is at Jehanabad Assembly seat that the friends have turned political foes between the Assembly election and bypolls. After the by-election for three seats in Bihar, the preparations to elect candidates for the vacant seat has been completed in Araria. The former ally of current ruling party JD (U) is leading by 23,187 with 3,33,050 votes with BJP trailing behind mananging 3,09,863 votes.
RJD is leading in Jehanabad after 10th round of counting with 29,551 votes.
In Bihar's Araria, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress are pitted against the BJP-Janata Dal (United) alliance and it's the first big test for Nitish Kumar after he walked out of the Grand Alliance previous year to team up with the BJP.
The results are expected to be declared by afternoon. Sarfaraz Alam has so far polled a total of 195,527 votes as against his BJP rival who has bagged 195,072 votes. The BJP is hopeful of retaining the Bhabua Assembly seat riding on a sympathy wave for Anand Bhushan Pandey, whose death at the age of 48, necessitated the bypoll.
Fifty-seven percent votes were recorded in Araria while the voter turnout was 54.03 percent and 50.06 percent in Jehanabad and Bhabhua respectively.
