Butler can agree to a deal with a new team once free agency officially opens on Wednesday.
With Aqib Talib traded to the Los Angeles Rams and Richard Sherman signing with the San Francisco 49ers, teams are turning their attention to another high profile cornerback on the market - Malcolm Butler.
Butler spent the first four seasons of his career in New England, making the Pro Bowl once and winning two Super Bowls. He failed to keep his momentum moving forward in 2017; while he made 15 starts, his play declined as a revamped Patriot secondary allowed more passing yards than all but one other team in the NFL.

Still, he is only 28 years old and played all 16 games in each of the last three seasons while tallying eight interceptions during that span.
Butler came to New England as an undrafted free agent in 2014, and after playing sparingly in the regular season, came up with the biggest play in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.
Butler will join Logan Ryan as former Patriots cornerbacks to sign with the Titans in consecutive offseasons. He continued to line up as New England's No. 2 corner in the AFC Divisional Round and AFC Championship, but did not play a single defensive snap in their Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, which head coach Bill Belichick said was a "football decision". That's close to the $40 million guaranteed that Stephon Gilmore received from the Patriots a year ago. Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe, Cyrus Jones, Jonathan Jones, Ryan Lewis and Jomal Wiltz are now the six cornerbacks on the Patriots' roster.
