Cousins is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,093 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. For the first time in 11 years I will participate in choosing where I play.
And while some may say Cousins should have opted for another year or two of security, it would have been a mirage if it weren't fully guaranteed. Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch combined to complete just 58.7 percent of their passes for 3,668 yards with 19 touchdowns and 22 interceptions for a 73.0 passer rating. They were able to make it to the NFC Championship Game last season largely thanks to the superb performance of their defense and a career year from Case Keenum.
There is likely to be plenty of rust in Bridgewater's game should he be given the keys to the Jets offense in 2018, meaning NY could bring back McCown to back him up. Jets Working On A Deal With Teddy Bridgewater
They still hold the No. 6 pick in the draft and could very well use it on a quarterback to sit behind McCown and Bridgewater. He will be joining a Jets team with plenty of question marks when it comes to talent on the offensive side of the ball.
Ponder, who started the first games of the 2012 and 2013 seasons, remains the most recent Vikings quarterback to hold the job after the preseason for two consecutive years. The Vikings paid a big price for Cousins, but now they're poised to challenge the Eagles once again for NFC supremacy.
Cousins' potential signing with Vikings moved Minnesota's Super Bowl LIII odds from 16-1 to 12-1 (tied with Green Bay for fourth best) at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. They offered him a 3-year, $28M per year deal.
McCown had a lot of success with the Jets a year ago as a would-be bridge quarterback who managed to put up really nice numbers and help the Jets to a surprisingly successful season.
The only other quarterback now signed by the Vikings is former undrafted free agent Kyle Sloter. He will have similar tools to work with in Denver, which should provide some optimism in his ability to reproduce last season's breakout campaign.
