Vikings expected to land free agent Kirk Cousins

According to an NFL source, the Redskins quarterback will visit the Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday as the league year officially begins. Free agency starts Wednesday - so nothing can be official until then.

Cousins joins the Vikings, who posted a 13-3 record in 2017 and reached the NFC championship game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. His agent, Mike McCartney, dismissed reports that his signing with the Vikings is a done deal. Washington acquired quarterback Alex Smith in a trade with Kansas City in January. According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Cousins has come to terms with the Minnesota Vikings after meeting with the NFC North franchise on Tuesday morning. He waited for Cousins to sign for this very reason. "The plan is to visit Minnesota first".

Bradford enjoyed his best pro season in 2016, throwing for 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Vikings before he made only two appearances previous year due to a knee injury. Keenum is expected to sign a deal with the Denver Broncos while Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater, the backup to Keenum most of 2017, both become free agents.

Rodgers is the better quarterback, by a wide margin, but he still has two years left on his current deal (which was once the biggest in National Football League history), reducing his leverage.

Seahawks Players Harassed Over Anthem Protest 'Get Off Your F**king Knees'
In August of 2017, Michael Bennett also explained why he chose to sit during The National Anthem . Don't mention one without mentioning the other.

Cousins had been connected to several teams in the weeks before free agency, including the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.

Cousins threw for 4,093 yards last season - the third straight year he has topped 4,000 yards.

Assuming Cousins, who turns 30 on August 19, signs with the Vikings and starts in Week 1 of the regular season, he would be the Vikings' sixth different opening day starter in seven years at quarterback.

McCown, Bridgewater, and a draft pick would make for a well-rounded quarterback room for new offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, who is retaining the quarterbacks coach title he had last season. However, next offseason there will be several talented, even Pro Bowl-caliber players in line for new deals.
