Malayali actress Parvathy, who won the best actress award in the International Film Festival of India, Goa past year for her performance in Take Off, is believed to be a top contender for the award for Best Actress.

The Feature Film Central panel was headed by Shekhar Kapur, an eminent filmmaker known for his works in Hindi cinema and worldwide cinema.

With late Sridevi winning the National Award for the Best Actor (Female) category, her fans have on Friday got emotional.

Sridevi's sudden demise on 24th February this year shook the industry and the country with a wave of sorrow. He had worked with Sridevi in 1987 film "Mr India".

Reacting to the announcement, Mom director Ravi Udayawar said, "She deserves it".

Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy winning composer A.R. Rahman won music awards for "Kaatru Veliyidai" and "Mom". "My director and co-actors made it so easy for me to act in this film". It was also recognised as the best film in Jasari langauge.

It feels wonderful to know that the whole country thought my role in Newton was one of my best and to win the Special Mention Award at the highest film award in India is just exhilarating.

Ganesh Acharya won the choreography award for the Hindi film "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha".
