Breaking! Twitter crashes down; 'something is technically wrong' message pops up

On Tuesday morning at approximately 9:45 AM ET, Twitter.com went offline for many users, including our entire staff.

On the website Down Detector, one person wrote: 'My twitter page isn't showing any tweets. At many occasions in past too, Twitter went down for users in India, China, Japan, the United States and other parts of the world. The micro-blogging site was also not working in Pakistan as of 7:15pm local time.

Thousands of Twitter users are reporting problems with the service every minute, DownDetector reports.

Twitter is down across the United Kingdom, social network users have claimed. The message further reads, "Thanks for noticing - we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon".

In November 2017, Twitter introduced a major update for its users, increasing the size of tweets from 140 to 280 characters.

Users are being greeted by a sad-looking robot, alongside the error message: "Something is technically wrong".
