The father of the eight-year-old Kathua victim who was allegedly drugged, tortured, and gangraped in a village temple for a week in January 2018, had approached the Supreme Court today seeking transfer of the case outside Jammu and Kashmir.

The charge sheets filed by the J&K crime branch state that the abduction, rape, and killing of the minor Bakerwal girl was part of a carefully planned strategy aimed at forcing the minority nomadic community out of the area. "Sanji Ram, the caretaker of "Devisthan", a small temple in a village in Kathua, as the main conspirator behind the crime", chargesheet reads.

According to the charge sheet file by Jammu and Kashmir Police, the girl was kept under sedatives, hungry, brutally tortured, gang-raped multiple times, strangulated and bludgeoned with a boulder to death. Her body was found in the same area a week later.
