She noted in the meeting that Russian Federation "has stopped at nothing to defend the Syrian regime's multiple uses of chemical weapons".

"Insulting the President of Russian Federation is unacceptable and inadmissible", he added. The medics said none of the patients were hurt by chemicals. The Kremlin readout said that Putin warned against rushing to blame the Syrian government before conducting a "thorough and objective probe".

Trump has pressed military leaders to develop plans for a sustained assault on Syrian regime targets in response to last weekend's chemical attack, the officials said.

In particular, the Russian minister discussed the allegations of chemical weapons usage by the Syrian government forces in the East Ghouta town of Douma.

Russia's foreign ministry said on Saturday that Western strikes on Syria came as the country had "a chance of a peaceful future".

But the vote at the end of an emergency meeting called by Russian Federation also demonstrated again the paralysis of the UN's most powerful body in dealing with Syria's seven-year conflict.

In a nationwide address on Friday night, Trump announced the USA, along with the United Kingdom and France, would launch "precision airstrikes" in Syria.

Manchester City have won a total of 28 games this season , leaving them just two away from Chelsea's record of 30. It is the fifth time City have been English champions and the third time in the last seven seasons.

Meanwhile, in a self-crediting gesture, US President Donald Trump tweeted, "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place".

Since Saturday, when images of ashen toddlers struggling for breath emerged after the alleged attack, there has been a sustained military buildup in the eastern Mediterranean. The Russian military said its chemical experts visited Douma shortly after the alleged attack and found no trace of chemical agents in ground samples.

Trump had also said last week that Putin bore responsibility for the "atrocity" in Douma. The chief of general staff said the rebels would stage a chemical attack by assembling women, children and the elderly to represent the victims.

Contrary to the US' accusations, the Syrian government has rejected all claims, stating that it wasn't behind the attack.

On Friday, Russian lawmakers drafted a bill under which the country may ban exports of titanium components to United States aircraft manufacturer Boeing.

Biological samples from the area of the attack in Syria have tested positive for chlorine and a sarin-like nerve agent, according to a U.S. official who's familiar with the U.S. analysis of the test results.

The attack has drawn global outrage and prompted the United States and its allies to consider a military strike on Syria, something Moscow has strongly warned against.
