Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday as Manchester United crashed to a shock 1-0 defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

Whether they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Manchester United's 1999 treble winners or the 2004 Arsenal "Invincibles" is up for debate.

"As much as this has been a record breaking season, this one's for you, the fans", City captain Vincent Kompany told the team website.

Apparently club superstars like Claudio Bravo and Phil Foden would be playing in City's final game of the season as well.

The current domestic season has been nothing short of phenomenal for Pep Guardiola's men as they have broken record after record since the beginning of the campaign and still looks strong to break several other long-standing Premier League records.

Guardiola said in March that Mateo was "doing well" and, following confirmation of City's title triumph, Silva thanked fans on social media for their support during a "tough year", attaching a photo of himself holding his son.

'We needed a period of adaptation...his methods were the right ones, we believed in him.

Acquiring a hard-working but relatively average squad which finished 9th in the league in 2007-08 season, the ADUG immediately sanctioned big money purchases for the team, and have continued to invest heavily in the transfer market ever since.

City's title is the 24th trophy of his glittering career.

Speaking after Saturday's 3-1 win over Tottenham, the 47-year-old gave all the credit to his players.

I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who's been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it's been very hard but at the same time we've bounced back, we're champions now and thank you to all of you, It's an incredible season. "These guys are fantastic, awesome, they are incredible", he said.

"This club is absolutely fantastic in all terms", he told the club's official website.
