He said, "We also request the Bihar Governor to dissolve the state government and like in Karnataka invite the single largest party, which in Bihar is the RJD".

"The Congress is also preparing to demand the "Karnataka model" in neigbouring Goa, where it couldn't form a government a year ago despite emerging as the single largest party".

"If in Karnataka the single largest party got a chance to form government, then the governments in Goa, Bihar, Manipur and Meghalaya should resign and make way for the single largest party", said Randeep Surjewala of the Congress.

On the time given to Yeddyurappa to prove majority, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader said, "How will BJP prove majority?"

In Goa, Congress Legislature Party chief Chandrakant Kavlekar said the party will stake claim tomorrow by submitting to Governor Mridula Sinha a formal letter containing signatures of all the 16 party MLAs. "I will meet Honourable Governor of Bihar along with MLAs as we are single largest party of Bihar", he said.

The Karnataka Governor's decision to invite the BJP to form the government on the ground that it emerged as the single-largest party is set to have a ripple effect. "So, we now appeal to the Governor to invite us to form govt", said Yatish Naik of the Congress party. The DMK, a key southern ally of the Congress, termed Vala's invite to the BJP to form a government in the state "hasty" and "unconstitutional" and alleged that it would lead to horse-trading.

Yadav's statement comes after the Karnataka Assembly elections, wherein the single largest party was invited to form the government instead of the coalition parties that together formed the majority.

Launching another attack at Karnataka Vajubhai Vala, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala today said, "Vajubhai vala had sacrificed his seat for Narendra Modi earlier, yesterday he sacrificed Constitution and democracy for him". In Karnataka, Governor invited BJP as they are the single largest party.

However, he did not specify how the party would muster the majority.

The Congress unit in Goa has extraordinarily sought an appointment with state Governor Mridula Sinha in order to stake claim to power in the state.

Following this, Manohar Parrikar, who was then serving as the defence minister was rushed back to Goa to return as the Chief Minister.

Kavlekar said that in absence of the Chief Minister in the state for last two months, there is no government in place.

The Congress won 17 seats in the 40-member Goa assembly and emerged as the largest party in Goa elections in March 2017, falling short of the majority figure by four seats.

Congress leaders from across the country have criticised Karnataka Governor's decision to invite BS Yeddyurappa to form government in Karnataka, after the state gave a fractured verdict on 15 May. JD (U) won 71 seats, while the BJP won 53.
