Kia Sportage facelift unveiled

It uses the 48-volt battery to boost acceleration, when necessary, and extend the engine's "off time" using a Mild-Hybrid Starter Generator and can reduce Carbon dioxide emissions by up to four per cent on the Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).

More noticeable changes have been extended to the GT Line on the Kia Sportage facelift.

The all-new Kia Sportage 2018 has been unveiled in the United Kingdom with a fresh new design, technology and the addition of a mild diesel-hybrid powertrain. The new motor is part of the automaker's global powertrain electrification strategy and features a mild-hybrid starter/generator unit with a 48-volt battery that cuts down Carbon dioxide emissions by four per cent. Kia is the first manufacturer to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology across its full model line-up. In the United Kingdom, the Sportage continues to be the brand's biggest seller with 39,683 delivered to customers in 2017, making up over a third of United Kingdom sales a year ago.

There are front and rear bumpers, as well as redesigned front and rear lamps.

The Sportage now offers a wider range of engines, including Kia's new "EcoDynamics+' 2.0-liter 'R" diesel mild-hybrid powertrain.

Other revisions include subtle updates to the Sportage's design, including new front and rear bumpers, redesigned front and rear lamps, revised "ice cube" LED fog lamps and new wheel designs (16 up to 19 inches).

Elsewhere, the 1.7 litre CRDi oil burner has been replaced with the new 1.6 litre "U3" CRDi, which Kia says is the cleanest diesel engine it has ever made.

Inside the cabin, the Sportage has been fitted with a new steering wheel and an updated instrument cluster, and there are new trim and colour choices. "GT-Line" models are available with new black-and-grey two-tone leather seats, or optional black leather with red accents. It'll be available with either 113bhp or 134bhp, with the higher-powered variant available with all-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Driver aids will include smart cruise control with idle stop, a 360 degree monitor for easier parking and attention warning to keep you alert and focused on your driving, while infotainment is presented on either an 18cm or a 20cm "frameless" touchscreen. All powertrains comply with the latest Euro 6d TEMP emissions standards.
