Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass gathered to thank their fans and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the honor. They join other boy bands at that location including: Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, New Kids On the Block, and New Edition. Ahead of the ceremony, fans camped out overnight while covered in merchandise such as *NSYNC blankets, shirts and home-made attire.
"I'd like to thank these gentlemen for making my dreams come true", Chasez said.
'Growing up in MS and in a Southern Baptist church, in a town where everyone knows your business, I had a secret: I was gay, ' he said. Fatone turned to the rest of the guys in mock surprise, and said, "What?!"
Bass, who revealed he was gay in 2006, spoke about how he feared for the group's success if he came out. "And no matter what I do, I feel the same, with or without you". "Specifically for me, my mom, for the first coupe of years that we were touring the world, I was a minor, which sounds insane to say, and she was there every step of the way".
Bass thanked his fellow bandmembers for their support, saying: 'Out of all this, the music, the tours, the love from the fans, it's my brotherhood I'm most thankful for. The crowd applauded Bass.
