Overwatch is ready to celebrate its two-year anniversary this month.
The latest Overwatch developer update with Jef Kaplan has been released ahead of the second anniversary event.
Kaplan then moved on to discussing the new Overwatch map that Deathmatch players will get, a free-for-all map called Petra.
"Petra is handsome. There are some really fun gameplay elements to it as well", Kaplan continued. "There are some really fun gameplay elements to it, as well. We think you'll find that very fun".
"There's parts of the map that are great for open, long-range heroes, there's parts of the map that are great for short-ranged heroes".
Mental Health Awareness Month
All of this work is underpinned by a significant financial commitment of £150 million over five years. The message is to recognise Mental Health Awareness Week during the industry's Radio Audio Week.
For this free weekend, we're making Overwatch's full roster of 27 heroes and 18 maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Arcade. He also talks about the first ever free for all deathmatch season which will take place on the Chateaux and Petra maps. The season will unfold on Petra and Chateau.
Jeff also mentions that Overwatch now has 40 million players. The Anniversary event will run between May 22nd and June 11th. This will contain one guaranteed Anniversary item, as well as a random item from any previous Overwatch event.
Additionally, Overwatch Twitter account has shared the exciting announcement that Overwatch Anniversary will kick off on May 22 and bring back past brawls and cosmetics!
The new items include eight Legendary skins, three Epic skins, and new dance emotes for Doomfist, Moria, and Brigitte.
