A gun was found stuck in a car's bumpber near Tacoma, Washington.

Talk about gunning the engine.

A driver in Washington found a gun lodged in the front of his auto, just under a headlight, police said.

Washington State Trooper Guy Gill posted photos of the incident on Twitter Thursday afternoon, calling it "a first".

According to Trooper Guy Gill with the Washington State Patrol, the motorist was driving his grey Honda along Interstate 5 when he saw a small black object flying through the air and felt it strike the front of his auto.

Troopers turned the gun over to police in the community of Lakewood for further investigation.

The gun has been handed over to the Lakewood Police Department.

No injuries were reported, and local station KING TV said it was unknown whether the gun was thrown, dropped from an overpass, or kicked up by a passing vehicle.
