Manchester City's star striker was asked about a potential transfer to the Catalan outfit and whether he would want to play alongside his worldwide teammate Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.

Aguero was asked in an interview with TyC Sports about the possibility of linking up with close friend and compatriot Lionel Messi at club level (h/t Marca's Charly Siffredi).

"I think it's impossible", said Aguero on Argentinian TV.

Aguero missed the final few weeks of the campaign with a knee injury, but he nevertheless managed to reach 30 goals for the season in all competitions.

Aguero's father recently told newspaper Ole that "it's possible" the pair could yet play together at club level (h/t Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror). "Leo eventually will stay there and I'll end up staying with City".

"Guardiola is very demanding, it wasn't easy at the beginning", he said of the City boss, who signed a two-year contract extension to keep him in charge at the Etihad Stadium until 2021 on Thursday.

Aguero is set to be in the Argentina World Cup squad after recovering from a knee problem, having had surgery following City's Champions League exit to Liverpool.

He added: "It is the first time in five years that I can bend my knee without feeling pain".

"The truth is that I've been suffering with my knee since 2013", he said.

"I always had problems in that area and now I feel different, now I can flex it and it's a great relief".

"I spoke with the Manchester City doctors this season and said, "we are going to wait because we have the Champions League".

"Pep supported me a lot".
