Atletico Madrid attacker Griezmann: My future defined this week

Last season, Antoine Griezmann was superb for Atletico Madrid after helping the Spanish club to win the 2017/18 Europa League title.

France travel to the World Cup on the back of a surprising 1-1 draw with the United States of America in Lyon on Saturday night, but Griezmann reckons there's no need for his teammates to panic, and says their preparation for Australia starts now.

But he finally appears to have secured his next challenge, with Atletico giving every indication they want to close the gap on LaLiga champions Barcelona next season by signing a highly rated attacker.

But Griezmann has remained tight-lipped on his decision, refusing to reveal his future destination just yet. "I know many people were waiting for that but this isn't the right day to do so".

Puig officially extended his contract with Barcelona and now has a release clause of €100 million, which should fend off any potential suitors for a while.

Donald Trump Blasts Robert De Niro For Tonys Remarks: "Very Low IQ"
Robert De Niro introduces a performance by Bruce Springsteen at the 72nd annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in NY . For comparison, earlier in the day Trump called North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as "very talented, very smart".

However, those figures will return to the previous numbers next month.

With Barcelona likely willing to pay €100m to secure Griezmann's services, Atletico will be up against a deadline to convince Griezmann to stay.

Griezmann gave no more indication on his plans and any time that the subject of his future was put forward by a journalist in attendance, the French FA press officer shut it down, telling the player not to answer.

The 18-year-old was a rumoured target of Tottenham, but the Catalan giants have ensured they'll hold on to one of their bright prospects for the coming years.
