Avengers: Infinity War was released nearly two months ago, but it continues to rake in billions at the box office. "Infinity War" was also the fastest movie to ever reach $1 billion worldwide. The superhero mash-up film crossed $2 billion dollars at the box office this past weekend. It holds the record for biggest domestic debut ever with $257.7 million in its opening weekend on April 27 to April 29, topping "The Force Awakens" by almost $10 million.
It's been a helluva year at the ticket booth for Marvel Studios, what with Black Panther ($1.34B) and Avengers: Infinity War ($1.99B) having entered the all-time worldwide gross top ten. Infinity War is expected to surpass Titanic in the next week, putting it directly behind Black Panther's $699,389,760 total. The film opened to a massive $199.3 million in China two weeks after the global debut and has gone on to become the third biggest release ever in the country with $369.7 million to date. It's safe to assume that it will, but it was safe to assume that Solo was going to be a big box office hit as well...and it wasn't.
The Avengers will assemble again for the still-untitled fourth film, set for May 3, 2019. Indeed, Infinity War placed at 5 last weekend, having added $7.2 million to its total, even besting the debuting Hotel Artemis, which came in at a disappointing 8.
Renner didn't give many details about Avengers 4 during the interview, saying of the hotly anticipated sequel, "Everybody's got to bite their tongue". A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality.
