Valtteri Bottas insists Mercedes' last-minute decision to delay the introduction of a new spec power unit for this weekend is nothing more than a "small penalty" for the team's Canadian Grand Prix chances.

"We wanted to use the second power unit this weekend, but a quality problem means we've moved it to the French grand prix", a spokesman is quoted as saying by the German media.

"We will need to make sure we get the most from all the tyre compounds, including the Hypersoft, if we want to come out on top this weekend", he said.
